The college regards the quality of teaching as the foundation of its development. “Diligence and Innovation Make a Perfect Talent” being its motto, the college strives to cultivate qualified students with practical, applicable and innovative skills as well as good morals and ethics so as to better serve the society.

    The college attaches great importance to the quality of its discipline development. Based on the superior teaching resources of BUCT, it has set up a basic course department and six schools- School of Science and Engineering, School of Information Science and Technology, School of Economic & Business Administration, School of Literal Arts, School of International Business and School of Fine Arts. Until now, it has established laboratories of physics, chemistry, automobile, electrics &electronics, computer, economic administration, art design, languages and digital campus network, etc. It has 31 undergraduate programs and one postgraduate teaching base of BUCT.

    The college adheres to the education policies, explores the systematic reform and innovation mode of higher education, and creates operational ideas for independent universities. So far, it has achieved quite a lot of successful experiences in teaching and administration and become a model in English teaching among independent universities, with the CET4 one-time pass rate above 50% for the past three consecutive years. At the same time, it takes an active part in scientific research and up till now, has undertaken 11 national scientific research programs and nearly 20 provincial and ministerial level programs. The scientific research has greatly promoted the teaching quality and academic level of the college. The college also vigorously carries out internationalization and localization strategies and has established friendly and cooperative relationships with many universities from Asia, Europe and North America. Dozens of students have been granted full scholarships for postgraduate studies abroad. Together with internationalization strategy, the college also puts great emphasis on the localization strategy, which aims to cultivate talented graduates to serve the development of the local economy. The project of Capital Economic Ring will offer a better opportunity for the growth of the college. In the process of education, the college stresses cultivation of the students’ benevolence, sense of responsibility and good habits, which has yielded excellent results. In the 2008’s donation activity for Wenchuan earthquake relief, all the faculty and students actively donated money and materials with a total value of more than 2,240,000.00 RMB, the biggest amount among Hebei colleges.

    The college places a very high value on students’ practical ability training, which is creatively connected into the teaching process. And it has done much quest and reform in curriculum setting and teaching methods. While accomplishing their academic studies, all students are required to master at least one professional skill. By actively collaborating with excellent enterprises and other parties, the college tries to prepare the students to meet the demands of society. It initiates the “1+N”educating mode, namely to encourage and help the students to get at least one job qualification certificate related to their majors to improve their competitiveness and competency in job market. The college emphasizes competence-oriented education with moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetical development in an all-round way. At the same time, the college provides all kinds of scholarships, including National Scholarship, National Stipend, Collegiate Scholarship, and Enterprise Scholarship, etc. Favorable learning environment helps cultivate excellent students. Until now, more than 1,400 students have been awarded National Scholarship. And in provincial and ministerial level contests, more than 140 students have got group and individual awards. The employment rates of its graduates in 2009 and 2010 ranked first among the same level colleges from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province. In 2010, more than 200 graduates were admitted as postgraduate students by famous universities home and abroad.

    Remarkable achievements have won the college wide social acclaim. In the Annual China Higher Education Appraisal Activity, the college has been on the top list of national independent colleges for four years in a row and got the fame of Top Twenty of National Independent Colleges, which reflects the total appreciation from the public of its achievements in the fields of classroom teaching, campus building, students’ training and so on.
